LEEP (LHCDC Emergent Entrepreneurship Program)
LEEP (LHCDC Emergent Entrepreneurship Program) is a Small Business Development program to cultivate economic growth in the Greater Logan Heights neighborhoods by motivating community members to pursue their passions. LEEP provides the opportunity to attend a free 10-week workshop that includes educational topics such as entrepreneurship, bank lending, intellectual property, market research/analysis, financial profitability, and more. Since its conception in 2019, the workshop has empowered over 40 individuals in the pursuit of entrepreneurship. The workshop is based on the Kauffman FastTrac curriculum which is proven to equip upcoming entrepreneurs with the skills, resources, and network needed to grow a successful small business. During the 10 weeks, program participants will deepen their business knowledge by learning directly from San Diego business experts. In addition, LEEP will offer individualized one-on-one business consultations with Logan Heights CDC’s Small Business Advisor and Workshop Facilitator while the Coaches help in providing industry-specific information and guidance to the business owners.
Walk This Way
Walk This Way is a series of workshops and activities that will guide micro and small business owners as we walk together through relevant concerns that they typically encounter around their business. Each month, a week will be solely dedicated to highlighting a particular topic where partner organizations are provided the platform to teach and touch base with the business community of the Greater Logan Heights area and help with particular concerns while key small business partners serve as a hub space to conduct the workshops.
Sidewalk Vending Education Workshop
This is the newest string of educational workshops since there is a new San Diego City ordinance coming into effect for sidewalk vendors. After the passed bill of SB 946 back in 2018 ended the criminalization of sidewalk vending in California, it allowed local authorities to adopt non-criminal laws to protect public health, safety, and welfare. The purpose of these workshops is to educate existing and new emerging sidewalk vendors about the new requirements, procedures, and regulations so that they can stay compliant with the City of San Diego.
